THE HOUND LINE – MAINTENANCE DEPOTDAILY DIRECTIVE #104

TO: Depot Maintenance Team
FROM: Mr. Euro, Chief Superintendent

“Listen up, team. These wooden passenger cars have been sitting out in the elements for far too long, and we need to stabilize them before we can begin any deep structural rebuilds. Prioritize the following tasks for today’s shift:

  • Surface Scrubbing: Carefully power-wash the exterior wood siding to strip away decades of road grime and flaking paint, but watch your pressure—we don’t want to splinter the vintage paneling.
  • Window Frame Inspections: Check all window tracks for rot or warping. Seal any immediate leaks with temporary weatherproofing to protect the interior during the wash down.
  • Underframe Sanding: Get underneath the chassis with wire brushes and start clearing the rust off the brake rigging and couplers so we can assess what parts need a total swap.

Keep your hard hats on, watch your footing on those ladders, and let’s get these old beauties tracking straight again!”
