🚃 From Abandoned Yard to Thai Tracks: The Hound Line Begins Epic Trans-Pacific Rail Rescue

A massive new chapter is unfolding for The Hound Line Railroad. We are officially executing our most ambitious international recovery mission yet: bringing four historic passenger cars all the way from an abandoned shunting yard in the United States to their new home in Thailand.

The Journey Begins at the Port of Tacoma

Historic Passenger cars on their way to Thailand.

After being rescued from decades of neglect, these heavily damaged passenger cars have been securely hauled across the USA to the Port of Tacoma. The engineering and ground crews are actively working on the docks, using heavy-duty cranes to lift the historic red railcars directly alongside the massive container ship, the SS Sea Raider. Each car has been fitted with custom transport signage detailing its long-distance destiny: “TRANSPORT TO: THAILAND via SS SEA RAIDER – DESTINATION: BANGKOK PORT.”

High Winds & High Stakes

Overseeing the high-stakes operation directly from the windy docks is our very own Finance Director, Mr. Euro. Clutching his clipboard and watching the cranes lift the battered rolling stock, Mr. Euro couldn’t hide his anxiety as powerful gusts whipped across the harbor.

“The financial and historical value of these cars is immense, but the weather is making this an absolute nail-biter,” Mr. Euro noted while monitoring the loading process. “Lifting heavily damaged rail cars in high-wind conditions requires absolute precision. We need them secured safely on deck before the storm conditions worsen.”

Once the loading is successfully completed, the SS Sea Raider will embark on a grueling maritime voyage.

The 13,000-Kilometer Maritime Trek

Once the loading is successfully completed, the SS Sea Raider will embark on a grueling maritime voyage.

  • The Distance: Approximately 13,636 kilometers (7,363 nautical miles) across the Pacific Ocean.
  • Pure Sailing Time: Roughly 22 to 30 days at standard cruising speeds.
  • Commercial Schedule: Expected transit will take between 28 and 45 days. This timeline accounts for essential multi-port stops, transshipment hubs like Singapore or Taiwan, and the unpredictable ocean weather.

What’s Next for the LG&B Passenger Cars?

These cars may currently feature broken roofs, smashed windows, and structural wear from their time left abandoned in America, but their story is far from over. Once they safely arrive at the Port of Bangkok, they will be transferred straight to The Hound Line’s restoration workshops. Our teams will completely overhaul them, blending classic rail history with modern Thai hospitality.

Stay tuned to thehoundline.dog for live tracking updates as the SS Sea Raider begins its journey across the Pacific!

Metal rolled products are the foundation in mechanical engineering, as they ensure the reliability of structures. They are widely used in construction projects and in the production of machinery. Thanks to the variety of metal grades, rolled metal helps bring complex design projects to life.

In addition, rolled metal is important in the manufacturing of industrial equipment and other areas of production. Ultimately, rolled metal remains a key material for the effective progress of infrastructure.
